FiNexus is a private company wholly owned and operated by Dr Christopher Sier and Dickie Whitaker. It was created for the UK Government (the e-Infrastructure Leadership Council) two years ago as an innovation and collaboration ecosystem in financial services for industry, Government, policy makers, innovators/entrepreneurs and academia and was designed to sit alongside the Alan Turing Institute as an ‘on-ramp’ for high performance computing. This project was ultimately cancelled and the company has since been used as the holding company for various vocational projects between the UK Research Councils, the Treasury, the Department for International Trade (formerly UKTI), the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (formerly BIS), Innovate UK and industry. As such it has a strong brand in central government departments and within the academic and entrepreneurial community both in the UK and internationally.
The overarching mission of FiNexus is to create a globally connected and stable network of innovation centers that will deliver innovation across a wide range of sectors to the benefit of local and global communities of entrepreneurs, academics and the good of the general public. FiNexus Labs Leeds is the first of these innovation labs
